How to get employer to pay you notice period payment as promised?

I quit my previous employer A and paid to that employer notice period payment in lieu of an early release. I got ready to pay to my previous employer A because I had been promised by my to-be employer B that the amount would be reimbursed to me after joining that (B). But now B is refusing to reimburse the amount. What should I do now?

This seems to be a dirty trick by employer B. Was the promise verbal only? As a precaution, it is always advisable to have promises on email if not on the offer letter as a clause for reimbursement on joining the organisation. Generally, we are in a hurry to join the new organisation OR we trust the HR person that we forget the rules of the game that is to have everything in black and white.

So, if you dont have in writing from the HR department and the HR department is refusing to comply with the agreed compensation for waiver of notice period, I suggest that you talk to your manager that there is a breach of promise and if he can influence the HR department. The conversation between you and the manager needs to be cordial and not a confrontation!

I am not sure about the amount at stake in lieu of notice period but I can understand that irrespective of the value this does leave a bad taste in mouth. If you like the new organisation and the job role, I suggest you dont fret over it too much but take it as lesson and take care henceforth while completing the formalities of joining a new organisation.
