How do I choose the company that I should join?

I got a job offer from two companies. One is a financial services company and the position is Assistant Manager - Global Expense Management. I will be preparing the book of costs through Qlikview. The other one is an outsourcing company and the position is that of a Consultant for Data Analytics. It’s a travelling job. Mostly to US and UK. Both have offered me the same package. I am quite confused. Please advise.

Dear Shankshaka,
The decision to join an organisation is based on some critical factors – 1) Job profile, 2) Work Culture/Ethics, 3) Compensation/package, and 4) Hiring Manager/Team. Based on your personal preferences, you can give a rating to each of the criterion – for eg, Shankshaka thinks that the job content is most important, followed by Hiring Manager, Compensation, and Work Ethics. In your case, compensation is a constant. So you need to figure out the following:

A) Which job is more challenging/ interesting for you? Do you like to travel? Or do you want to build your skills in Qlikview?
B) Do a reference check on the organisation’s work ethics through ex-employees/internet. Big brands are not always the better choice!
C) Compare the personalities of the Hiring Managers. Interviews are always a two-way process and you need to assess whether you can grow in the organisation that you would move to.

Last but not the least, listen to your heart and trust your instincts. Hope this helps. Best of luck!
